Hi, I’m Shannon, the founder and editor of Scrappy Gardeners, the go-to resource for carnivorous plant parents. While I love houseplants (especially ferns and pothos), I first dabbled in carnivorous plants after finding a Venus flytrap at Trader Joe’s — and I’ve been hooked ever since.
Now, with 10 years of experience growing Venus flytraps, sundews, and butterworts, I’m sharing my advice. Anyone can keep carnivorous plants alive — all it takes is a little knowledge (and a lot of insects).
Background

I’m a writer, editor, and content marketer with a quirky hobby: growing carnivorous plants. I’m a former editor for Angi and HomeAdvisor’s garden and outdoors vertical, where I covered topics like plant care, gardening, houseplant tips, landscaping, and more. While I love to write about plants, I’ve also written about everything from home decor and travel to marketing and SEO.
Now, I’m combining my passions — writing and houseplants — into this blog, Scrappy Gardeners, to share what I’ve learned and connect with other carnivorous plant growers.
